Microwavable Duck Just £4.99 at Play.com
Leave the first response February 8, 2010 / Posted in Gifts, ShoppingWith another cold snap expected in the coming weeks, plus the fact it’s Valentine’s Day soon (ideal gift), duck lovers could be keeping themselves warm with this cute Microwaveable Duck. These are usually £9.99, but currently Play.com are selling them for £4.99.
That makes them a fantastic bargain – and even better if you’re looking for something cute and cuddly as a Valentine’s gift idea. The duck works like a hot water bottle, except you put it in the microwave first to heat up rather than just add boiling water.
Of course there’s always “it’s too cute to put in the microwave” and so if you really can’t face watching your cute duck friend getting bombarded with microwaves just to keep you warm, there are alternative furry friends in the range. These include a Polar Bear, Bee, Pig, Bunny, Ticeratops, Puppy, Cat, Cow and Ladybird.

Love Duck Ideas for Valentine’s Day
Leave the first response January 28, 2010 / Posted in Gifts, ShoppingLove is in the air and that means it’s soon Valentine’s Day. They’ll be chocolates, roses, champagne and possibly even romantic trips to Paris, but what about a lover duck! For less than the price of a red rose you can pick up a Lover Duck from Getting Personal. It’ll last longer too.
For those of you on a budget then there’s the cute but small Mini Love Duck. Don’t tell your Valentine it cost just 60p though.
Shown above is Lover Duck which is £6.95 from Getting Personal and Duck – Rubber Yellow – Lover – 4cm Mini which is just 60p from PartyBox.
Shown above is Opal London Punk Duck Rubber Duck which is £5.49 from Chemist Direct and Mini Duck Set – Love which is £7.99 from Totally Funky.
There are a whole bunch of Bud Designer Ducks to choose from, but perhaps you’re anti-Valentine? Well, the Punk Duck is the epitome of all things anti-establishment (although it may not be wholly appreciated on Valentine’s Day).
Perhaps the best ducks for lovers is the Love Mini Duck Set. It’s just £7.99 and contains 3 small Bud Ducks featuring hearts and I Love You messages. Perfect for duck lovers on Valentine’s Day!
Swarovski Duck at H Samuel – Crystal Mandarin Ducks
Leave the first response December 15, 2009 / Posted in GiftsMost of the duck items we feature here on Duck Holiday tend to be a few pounds and as it’s nearly Christmas they’d make excellent stocking fillers. However, we’ve found something a little bit more expensive and extra special that would make a lovely gift for a duck lover at any time of the year. It’s from H.Samuel, The Jeweller, and it’s a Swarovski Crystal Mandarin Duck.
The ducks were designed by Anton Hirzinger, who has used Turmaline, Light Topaz and Topaz in his creation. It measure just 4.7cm and features two Mandarin Ducks sat on the ground (or floating on a pond). As it’s Swarovski Crystal it comes with a price tag of £123 at H.Samuel and Swarovski. We told you it wasn’t as cheap as a good old fashion rubber duck didn’t we.
However, it’s a beautiful piece and the ducks look really lovely.

Ducktor Who The Perfect Replacement for David Tennant
Leave the first response December 15, 2009 / Posted in LED DucksBy the end of New Year’s Day David Tennant will no longer be Doctor Who. He will be handing over the Tardis to Matt Smith, but perhaps Russel T Davies has missed a trick. A much better replacement is Ducktor Who! This glow in the dark rubber duck even comes with his own blue box and is the perfect gift for any duck loving Doctor Who fan.

The Ducktor is available for £5.99 at Totally Funky. The good Ducktor has been popular this Christmas and although usually available at both Getting Personal and Gadgetshop, it’s currently out of stock.
SciFi Ducks aren’t new as we’ve already seen here on Duck Holiday. Mr Spuck has boldly gone where no duck has gone before and Duck Fadar is busy battling the rebels in a galaxy far far away.
The Ducktor comes in yellow and even features a Tom Baker Doctor style scarf! We think the makers are missing a trick here though. There could be a Ducktor for each of the incarnations of the character, although perhaps they’d need official licensing to be able to do that!

Give a Fluffy Duck for Christmas – Charity Christmas Gifts
Leave the first response November 23, 2009 / Posted in GiftsOne of the nicest Christmas gifts around is the opportunity to help out others in the form of charity gifts. Instead of a pair of socks, Amazon voucher or box of chocolates you can give someone a charity present that helps those that are more needy, not just at Christmas but all through the year. For duck lovers there’s a fantastic gift idea at Practical Presents.

A fluffy duck costs just £12! They help poor families in Bangladesh who can use the eggs for food and also for breeding their own flocks, which can be sold on. Now of course a duck chick doesn’t get sent in the post! The person you buy the gift for will get a gift pack explaining the present to them whilst a donation is made so that people overseas get help straight away.
As well as ducks you can buy chicks, goats, donkeys and sheep too!
Similar gifts can also be bought at Concern Gift and Oxfam Unwrapped although they don’t have the fluffy ducks!
