About Duck Holiday

The original Duck Holiday was started in April 2005 on Loquax - The UK Competitions Portal. The idea was to get our users to take a small yellow rubber duck on holiday, take some photos, and return them plus the duck. The reason simply for a bit of fun, and to see just what would happen. A duck was chosen as it features in our logo.

Initially we wanted to see how far individual ducks could travel. However, rubber ducks are prone to staining, wear and tear, and also vanishing altogether. Therefore, the aim has been to get the ducks out and about to as many locations as possible.

Already the ducks have visited many places around the world including Australia, Brazil, New York, Vietnam, Dublin, Canada and Dubai. Plus it’s even attended The Star Wars Episode III Premiere and been photographed with Bryan Adams!

The Loquax Duck Holiday photos would not exist without the input of the people who have taken up the challenge. A massive thank you to all of them!

2007 Update

Due to time constraints, many of the ducks went into hibernation towards the end of 2006 and the duck holiday competition rested. However some of the ducks have continued to visit new places and have their photos taken. New photos will be uploaded to Duck Holiday soon.

The site is now under development to promote all things ducks! From the latest products, to news and charity information.
