Giant Ducks at The Brit Awards
1 Comment February 19, 2009 / Posted in NewsDuffy was the big winner as The Brit Awards 2009, but duck lovers couldn’t have missed the giant ducks that adorned the stage. The ducks are taking over the world! Whilst Matthew Horne, James Cordon and Kylie Minogue presented the show two huge ducks sat at the back of the stage. You can just make out the giant ducks in the background of the opening dance sequence featuring Kylie and the guts from Gavin and Stacey.
But, there was even better to come when Girls Aloud and Alan Carr were seen with giant rubber ducks when being interviewed by Fearne Cotton! The Giant Duck is made by Tobar and measures 32 x 27 x 23cm. It does take a lot of room in the bath, but they’re pretty cool and kids (well small kids) can actually sit on them (but not in the bath).
You can your own Giant Duck from I Want One of Those (use the code AFF05 to get a 5% discount, offer ends 31st December 2009).

The Tao of Duckman – He Ties a Rubber Duck To His Bike!
Leave the first response February 9, 2009 / Posted in Duck SitesWe’re not the only rubber duck obsessed people in the world and it’s fun reading about other people’s exploits and interactions with their duck friends. Most people are happy with a collection of rubber ducks and taking them out for the odd photo opportunity. However Brian Archer, who is from Tennessee and blogs at The Tao of Duckman, straps his rubber ducks to his bike and takes them on endurance races.
Even better he numbers his ducks as after several races they get a bit worn out and battered. The man’s obviously totally insane – no one in their right mind would cycle the races he does. The Tao of Duckman is an interesting and well kept up to date blog. You’ll especially enjoy it if you’re into mountain biking and endurance racing, but there’s a few pictures of the rubber duck on the bike for all the duck lovers too.
However what is really cool about Brian’s blog is the reason he gives for loving the rubber duck – he describes it as “the epitome of youth and simplicity. The rubber duck reminds me that life is not about a big house, a big salary or any of the other things our society uses to define success. Life is about the experience”. A brilliant philosophy!
Take a look at The Tao of Duckman and follow Brian (and his duck) in his endurance cycling races during 2009.
Rubber Duck in the Snow – Swansea
Leave the first response February 4, 2009 / Posted in News, PhotosWith snow falling across the UK yesterday it seemed right to give our yellow rubber duckie friend a chance to experience the white stuff. This photo was taken in Swansea, Wales, and the snow was (roughly) 3.5 inches deep.
The photo is now part of a photo group on Flickr dedicated to Rubber Duckies. The group is open to all and is a place where you can show off your duck related photos & collections.
Splashing About at Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust in Llanelli
Leave the first response January 29, 2009 / Posted in PhotosIt’s been a while, but Duck Holiday is back again and we’re testing out posting photos from Flickr to the blog. This photo was taken by the owners of Duck Holiday and catches a duck splash landing at the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust just down the road in Llanelli.
Ducks Invade Art World and Join Dali, The Mona Lisa & Monet!
Leave the first response July 10, 2008 / Posted in PhotosRubber ducks get everywhere and now they’re taking the art world by storm by invading well known masterpieces like The Mona Lisa. You can find this fantastic set of duck pictures at w/ extra duck on Flickr. The concept is so insanely simple yet highly effective – a little duck is just added to the artwork to give it a duck like feel.

The above is The Mona Lisa (the Dali picture went AWOL) – see if you can spot the duck. (Original picture by Misty)!
The photographer is obviously a big duck fan as there’s a load of duck photos including A Duck a Day. Duck fans everywhere will love these pictures – and the artwork ones have already featured in the press and also on Sky News.
Brilliant!
